Most models think that
preparing for a modeling shoot means getting a good night's sleep.
In reality, that's only part of it.
A model should also prepare by gathering together everything she needs
for the shoot the day before. Make-up, clothing, props, accessories,
whatever is needed should be ready to taken out the door.
Most importantly is knowing exactly where the shoot is taking place.
If possible, visit the location beforehand so you avoid getting lost
if the place is hard to find. Always make sure you have a phone number
to call in case you do manage to get lost or if your car breaks down
on the way to the shoot.
Once you arrive on the set, go directly to the make-up artist and
let them know if you're having any trouble spots on your skin that
day. As a model, never wash your hair before the shoot because without
any oils in it, your hair loses its manageability.
You also shouldn't wear any tight clothing beforehand because it will
cause pressure marks that last for an hour and can't be removed with
makeup. Underwear shouldn't be worn either except maybe for a g-string
that won't leave any visible marks.
Lastly, you can also mentally prepare yourself for the fact that you're
going to have to undress in front of others to get ready for the shoot.
